SpaghettiO’s Dip

Now that we have moved to the Seattle area, football play-offs are much more exciting.  We have kept track of more than one favorite team (yes, we are a house divided) and are looking forward to the Big Game at the beginning of February.  It is no secret that I love making warm dips to eat while we watch sports.  This new one is for the kid in all of us: SpaghettiOs Dip.  SpaghettiOs Dip for the kid in all of us Continue reading

Burrito Dip

A warm, meatless dip that tastes like your favorite burrito

Warm Burrito Dip

Okay, this is the last dip of the season.  I have more up my sleeve for next year, but with the big game coming up this weekend, the time has passed for me to make any more right now.  I am ending my dip mania with a meatless bean affair.  I call it Burrito Dip because my imagination has flown the coop.  Continue reading

Sausage and Black Olive Pizza Dip

Sausage and Black Olive Pizza Dip because not everyone loves pepperoni pizza!

Sausage and Black Olive Pizza Dip because not everyone loves pepperoni pizza!

Have you seen “pizza dip” before?  Have you noticed that it almost always includes pepperoni?  Despite the fact that pepperoni is, in fact, one of the more popular varieties of pizza, I know for another fact (because I take very scientific surveys!) that not everyone orders pepperoni on their pizza.  I happen to have a few of those people living right under my roof.  This sausage and black olive pizza dip is for them, for you, for anyone who doesn’t want plain pepperoni anymore. Southern Style Smothered Fries: sweet potato fries topped with barbecue pulled pork and melted pimento cheese #GameDayGrub #ad

I live in the South where football is king and food is a close second.  Every chance we get, we combine the two!  There is nothing like a huge spread of #gametimegrub and a big crowd gathered to watch the exciting games leading up to the big game next week.  My husband was born and raised in one of the cities whose team is playing, so without naming which, I can tell you we are very anxious for another win for the home team.  One of our favorite things to eat while waiting for a first down is smothered fries.  Alexia Foods helps us do just that with their sweet potato and crinkle cut French fries. Bacon Cheeseburger Dip

Bacon Cheeseburger Dip: it’s like a fast food burger on a chip!

Bacon Cheeseburger Dip

I have made a lot of good dips lately, but this one has my entire family’s vote as the best one yet.  Seriously, folks, this dip tastes like something you would by in the drive-thru under a pair of arches or giant burger signs.  It has the basic dip ingredients of cheese, cream cheese, etc, but then it has all of the components of a loaded burger, like ketchup, mustard and even a little bit of dill pickle!  Continue reading

Reuben Dip

All of the flavor of a traditional Reuben sandwich in a warm dip!

Reuben Dip: all of the delicious sandwich taste in a creamy, warm dip

This isn’t a terribly innovative dip, I have seen similar ones around the internet before.  However, I love Reuben sandwiches so much that I had to try my hand at a warm Reuben dip, too.  Who can resist melted Swiss cheese with a creamy corned beef spread?  I know that I sure can’t.  Continue reading

Warm Lit’l Smokies Chile Dip

Warm Lit’l Smokies Chile Dip is another hearty meat and cheese dip, this time with a little kick of chiles, too.

Warm Lit'l Smokies Chile DipI am at it again.  New Year’s isn’t even a week past and I am thinking about eating more dips.  This time, however, these are pure game watching foods.  Football is gearing up for it’s epic final games of the 2014-2015 year and we need munchies.  We need comfort food at it’s best and have I got a couple of wonderful warm dips for you, starting with this Warm Lit’l Smokies Chile Dip.

Hot Goulash Appetizer Dip

Hot Goulash Appetizer Dip: layers of ground beef with tomatoes and bell peppers and cheese, lots and lots of cheese!

Goulash Dip: layers of ground beef with tomatoes and bell peppers and cheese, lots and lots of cheese!

I adore hot appetizer dips.  I have made Buffalo chicken dip, lasagna dip and jambalaya dip.  Inspired by other favorite casseroles, I will be showing you some other warm cheese dips starting by this hot goulash appetizer dip.  Both my husband and I grew up with versions of this hearty casserole.  Taking out the pasta and adding layers of cream and cheddar cheese seemed like a pretty good idea.  Continue reading

Pimento Cheese: a Southern Favorite

Pimento Cheese is a classic Southern dish that can be used as a dip, a sandwich spread or even as a topping on potatoes or burgers.

Pimento Cheese: a Southern Classic

Although this is a basic dish with two main ingredients, oddly enough, there are as many recipes for pimento cheese as there are cooks.  Some people like it creamy, some people like it thick.  Others like it spicy while still other folks like it mild.  There is no right or wrong way to make it, but I am sure there are some strong opinions.
