Orange Cream Cookies

The first box arrived with weird tape all over it and a note from the mail carrier saying it wasn’t their fault if any contents were damaged or missing.  There were two cookies in the box out of the original twelve.  Hmmm, I thought.  Maybe this isn’t going to be as fun as it sounded.

Then the next box arrived.  I opened it and was hit by the unmistakeable aroma of coffee.  My family doesn’t drink coffee for religious reasons, so I handed the cute tin to my second son and had him take it to school the next day for his favorite teacher.  She loved the cookies.  We, on the other hand, were batting zero for two.Orange Creamsicle Cookies

A few days later, the last box arrived.  Inside were twelve cookies; twelve chocolate dipped orange cookies.  Yipee!  We finally had a full box of treats.  The kids ate them, but because they are a food blogger’s children, they critiqued them as well.  Nix the chocolate, mom.  Make them more like a creamsicle, mom.  Aren’t they done yet, mom?cookie week

I am skipping any blogger cookie swaps this year, but who cares when there are so many wonderful cookies all crammed into this wonderful week.

  1. What smart kids, Kristen. These orange cream(sickle) cookies look yummy! I have duly saved the recipe of course.

P.s. They say things happen in 3s right? Looks like the last package was an inspiration to share with lucky readers!

  2. Gonna try some from this list. My favorite cookie to make every year are Venetians. They are so colorful and the almond paste cake and apricot glaze are sublime!

  3. Oh dear… I’m sorry the cookie swap was such a bust, even if it did redeem itself in the end. 🙂 I love me some creamsicles and I love me some cookies, so obviously there’s nothing I don’t love about this recipe!

  4. I was hoping to make these today when I realized that the recipe says “1/2 butter”. Is that 1/2 cup or 1 /2 stick? Also, have you ever tried it with lemon cake mix?

    1. Oh, sorry Dana! I had originally had sticks in all my recipes, but some of my non-US friends pointed out that their butter didn’t come in sticks, so I edited them all to say cups. I must have been in a rush here and left off the cup. Yes, this works with both lemon or strawberry cake mixes, too.
