Subtly Chocolate Cupcakes with Nutella Frosting

I am a guest poster today over at Jane’s blog, The Heritage Cook.  It’s Chocolate Mania Monday and I brought Subtly Chocolate Cupcakes with Nutella Cream Cheese Icing.  The chocolate is barely there….but oh so good!  Go take a look.  Please.  And come back later today for my Secret Recipe Club reveal.   I keep double booking myself this month!!

Subtly Chocolate Cupcakes: Guest Post at The Heritage Cook
  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1 small (3.5 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup oil
  • ½ cup water
  • 4 eggs
  • Icing:
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • ⅓ cup Nutella hazelnut spread
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
  1. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Using an electric mixer, beat ingredients until smooth.
  3. Divide batter into 24 prepared cupcake tins.
  4. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 20 minutes or until they test done with a toothpick.
  5. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
  6. Beat the cream cheese, Nutella and vanilla until smooth.
  7. At a lower speed, add the powdered sugar, increasing the speed as the sugar combines with the Nutella mixture.
  8. Spread or pipe onto cooled cupcakes.
