Traditional Boston Cream Pie: Homemade Yellow Cake with Homemade Custard in between the layers, with Homemade Chocolate Glaze on top. This week was such that I needed a completely convenient way to make it.  So I made it all from mixes.  And I didn’t feel bad about doing it.  At. All.

Super Simple Boston Cream Pie

Ingredients
  • Yellow Cake Mix
  • Cook 'N Serve Vanilla Pudding
  • Store Bought Chocolate Frosting
  • eggs
  • milk
  • oil
Instructions
  1. Make cake mix according to package directions in a 9x13 pan.
  2. Cool cake completely.
  3. Make cook and serve vanilla pudding according to package directions.
  4. Poke holes all over yellow cake.
  5. Pour pudding on top of cake.
  6. Place in refrigerator and cool completely.
  7. Spread with chocolate frosting.
  I would like to say, for the record, that we survived the first week of school.  No one died, no one ran away, no one was committed.   I hope I can say the same next week.

  1. Hi! Glad to see you survived! Your website is great. Lot’s of good ideas. Will probably try the Boston cream cake – love it, but too lazy to make the original. Will also try the cheddar & apple cinnamon rolls (is that yours too?). I can’t eat much of what I make, but love giving away my creations (lap band). Yesterday I passed up potato pancakes (had a few crumbs – I would kill for them); ps – I had just made them!!! Well, at least I was a “folk hero” for the family!!!
