This has got to be one of the most fatteningly delicious recipes I have made in a long, long time. I got it off the Pioneer Woman’s website. I actually had to lower the amount of butter for which it called because my arteries couldn’t stand reading about using almost 3/4 pound of butter for one cake. As is it, I doubled the recipe, made two cakes and still used a lot of butter. It was SOOOOO wonderful.
You can find her recipe HERE. I used reduced fat sour cream in the cake. I only 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup sugar for the sauce. Then I reduced the butter to 6 Tbsp for the cake. If you use sweeter apples, instead of Granny Smiths, you can reduce the sugar in cake to 1/2 cup.
